There is no fixed regas interval suitable for every vehicle. Air conditioning systems can gradually lose refrigerant over time, which may reduce cooling performance.

If your air conditioning isn't cooling as effectively as it used to, we recommend having the system checked.

Our technicians can advise whether your vehicle needs a regas or further investigation.

R134a and R1234yf are two different types of refrigerant used in vehicle air conditioning systems.

R134a is commonly found in older vehicles, while R1234yf is used in many newer models and has a lower environmental impact.

At Walkers Motor Group, our prices are:

• R134a (Older Gas) – £60

• R1234yf (Newer Gas) – £135

Our team can check which refrigerant your vehicle requires before carrying out the service.

There are several reasons why your car's air conditioning may not be cooling properly.

Common causes include low refrigerant levels, refrigerant leaks, compressor faults or electrical problems.

Although a regas may restore cooling performance when refrigerant levels are low, it won't resolve every air conditioning fault.

Our technicians can advise whether your system requires a regas or further diagnosis.

An air conditioning regas typically takes around 45–60 minutes, although the time required can vary depending on your vehicle and the condition of its air conditioning system.

The process generally involves recovering the existing refrigerant, carrying out appropriate system checks and recharging the system with the correct refrigerant quantity.

If a leak or other fault is identified, additional work may be required.
