Stay cool with a Walkers Air Con Service
Whilst your air conditioning system is low maintenance, it is not maintenance free. It is quite common for people to turn off their air conditioning system throughout the winter months. However, in doing so, any condensation left in the pipework, together with the heat generated by the engine, provides an ideal environment for bacteria and mould spores to develop.
The air conditioning system, like any mechanical system, requires routine servicing to maintain its effectiveness. The last thing you need is for the system to perform inadequately, draining your engine power, or to stop working completely, especially in warm weather.
Fortunately, you can rid yourself of the problems caused by the unpleasant presence of mould and bacteria, courtesy of a simple air conditioning de-bug, which takes around 30 minutes and could be done “while you wait”.
However, regardless of whether you use your air conditioning system over the winter months or not, we recommend you have a full air conditioning service on an annual basis.
Basic Air Conditioning De-Bug - £15.99
Harmful bacteria can build up in the air conditioning system over time and this can lead to unpleasant odours, allergic reactions and irritations. Our trained technicians will carry out a treatment that will cleanse the air conditioning system improving the air quality, eliminating odours and providing a healthier environment in your vehicle.Includes free vehicle health check.
Air Conditioning Re-Gas - £47.99
Your Air Conditioning system is not just for keeping the air cool. It’s also used to dehumidify the hot air in winter, demisting the windows and keeping your windscreen clear. If the Air Conditioning system isn’t working properly moist air won’t be able to demist the windscreen, affecting visibility. Includes free vehicle health check.
Around 10% of air-conditioning gas will be lost from the air-con system every year, that’s why most car manufacturers recommend that the air-con system is recharged with new gas every 2 years.
Our trained technicians will remove all the old refrigerant gas and oil and thoroughly clean the system before injecting new oil and refrigerant gas. We’ll then take a temperature reading to ensure that the Re-Gas worked.
Exclusive offer - Combined Air Conditioning Service - £59.99
How Does My Air Conditioning System Work?
The air conditioning system is basically a refrigerator designed to move heat from the inside of your car to the outside. The key parts of the system are briefly described below.
Compresses and circulates the refrigerant in the system
The refrigerant carries the heat in the system.
The condenser changes the the refrigerant from gas to liquid and removes the heat from the car.
The evaporator moves heat to the refrigerant from the air blown across it, cooling the vehicle.
What Happens During An Air Conditioning Re-Gas Service?
- All gases and moisture are removed through a deep vacuum of the system
- We vacuum check the entire system for leaks
- Lubricating PAG oil (special air conditioning oil) is added
- Dye is added to look for leaks (if authorised)
- The gas is measured and recharged into the system
- Running pressures are checked
- Cabin vent temperature is checked
- The system is also checked with an electronic sniffer
